We hunted for three days. When I say hunt, we go out for a couple of hours. It gets to be a long day traversing through the underbrush. We ended up with roughly 250-300 mushrooms for the weekend. We found mostly grays and a few yellows. The big yellows should be popping any day.

Sounds like you 2 limited out!!! :D

Looks like a fun relaxing weekend! Thanks for the pics! I dont know much about mushrooms so I had better stay away ;)

If you have some crappie filets your frying up and you batter and toss them in the oil too, your tongue will slap out your brain.....

Mine did that a long time ago after I said, "I do" ! Then, it was, yes dear, yes dear ... Now, I'm a lost cause . DM :)

I had an old timer for a friend-since deceased. He wasn't educated at all but he knew more about nature than anyone else i know. He'd hunt mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns and wild Horseradish with great success 25 miles N of Manhattan. He took me once-It was great fun.

Oh crap im chatting-hope no one notices.

Awesome time spent with the Mrs....exactly what do you do with the mushrooms?edible?

indeed, they are delicious! bread em and fry em...a delicacy. my stepdad had a beagle years ago that had a nose for them...that dog definitely earned his keep once a year!

My wife is Czech and grew up hunting mushrooms. Along with beer, mushrooms are sort of the Czech national pasttime. We've spent a great deal of time strolling around the forests of the Czech Republic in the fall hunting mushrooms. We mostly dry 'em to use in soups and chili, but some get pickled, some go into a sauce to have with beef, some get fried ..... they're damn tasty!

I know the image below isn't of a Buck knife :o but next time we go, I promise to carry and use my 303 stockman.

Very nice pics. This is my first post. I am in North East Tennessee. I have a 15 acre farm with 2 springs and the Red River (A really large creek) running through it. Some people came by wanting to look for mushrooms. Are these indigenous to your area.

I love'm in Chili in place of the Beans. I put'm in Spaghetti sauce also. Mmmmmmm.

After seeing this I'm shocked that people make fun of me for eating opossum or Raccoon . Wait till I tell the kinfolks what other people eat . DM

Dave, I suspect people made fun of you and the kinfolks more because the raccoons and 'possums were road kills than anything else.........it's more how you get'em than what they are.

:D
