I received an email from a sporting goods store today. In their ad was a Buck Knife tin with a set of knives called Grit.
One serrated one plain edge. Have not seen these before. I can not tell if they are USA or imported. Maybe if I get time tomorrow I will go buy the store and take a look. The store initials are in the skew number so they maybe an exclusive. They were under $20 on sale in the ad, regular price $40. Just for your info.

Your assignment is to go buy a set and write up a report......
There are no stores for that retailer in Missouri, stores are in the Western states

I went and picked up the "Grit". It stands up to it's name as there was grit on the blade of the small knife, it wiped off easy.
These are not really my style as I do not like knives with thumb hole opening. The 339 opens kind of stiff, some lube is in order.
The 338 is too small to open with my thumb, I wear a large glove, however it opens very easy.
The aluminum handles are light weight, and the traction on the side is very grippy.
The 339 is serrated again not a fan of that. It does have pocket clip that is functional, and not to tight. It rides deep in the pocket.
Over all the small 338 would make a good pocket carry knife. The 339 works well with the clip and would be a good knife for most.
The pictures tell most of the story.

Size comparison to a Buck 110

1: Lock up 40% on the 339, and 25% on the 338. The liner lock is stiff but not a nail breaker. Looks like it has 1 bronze washer and 1plastic washer.

2: Blade centered on both knives when closed.

3: Lock up is solid on both knives.
4: Grind is good, even, and sharp both knives.

OK I decided to add this at the end. These are imported from China. As with most imported Buck Knives fit and finish is very good. In my opinion for the sale price point these are a good buy.
FWIW the blade has CHINA etched on the back.

Thanks for the report. Looks like a good deal for $20, the are $40 on the website.

I forgot to add these pictures of the tin.

My "FAVORITE" part of the tin. Things like this make me laugh.

If you've ever owned a JD tractor or mower you are treated to images like this...
There is even a graphic for a mower running over a child and one for a stick man wrapped around a PTO shaft....
Not so funny but makes you wonder how stupid we have become to need such reminders.....
