This is my first visit to the BladeForums site after registration and I am interested in having the opportunity to ask general knife questions and or specific knowledge based questions and only hope I am in the right forum. I guess I will see. My concern is about a knife I just got. It is a Buck 110 made in 1991 with Christopher Columbus scrimshaw ships on the handle. The engraver is Linda Karst and I have not been able to find any information and or worth of this nice knife. I have searched the web and can't find squat, can you tell me about this knife, if so please do Thanks megessner

Welcome! :)

I have moved your question to a new thread of its own.

The Columbus 110 was sold in 1992 (1492-1992, get it?). Buck made 1,492 of them. Original retail was $150. Current value is whatever somebody is willing to pay.

I will copy this thread to the Buck forum.

the last 2 or 3 i seen on ebay sold for between 150 and 250...
why the range i dont know..
many buck knives have rocketed in value some have declined
strange market 560 went out sight and now way back down
124's are the latest to get over priced- in some cases selling for more then custom stamped blades...and that bubble will bust shortly! they all do...
yours and some other customs took a hit during the bowie run and will likely sell for over 200 around tax time!
it is a nice knife to have in a buck folder collection...
if selling wate tell tax time..
if you got it for less then 100 you were lucky!!!
if you are keeping it as part of your collection than contact your
insurence company and record it as valued at 200.

Hi megessner,

Welcome to the Buck forum. Bernard is correct for the 1992 gold etch blade 110 that was issued in 1992 with a brass frame. However, the white corian scrimshaw with Nickel frame was issued in 1993 according to the data on the BCCI web site. The knife was issued in a Jewel case, had a MSRP of $120 at issue (I have also seen this knife in a small wood/glass top case). As MR. Levine said....value is what someone is willing to pay for it.

Here is one I got for a good price...it came with no case, no paper work, and the NK frame was very tarnished.

My Columbus 110.

Does anyone know the underlying white material on the handle? Was it Micarta? Corian? Something else?

Incidentially, Linda Karst, the woman who did this scrimshaw, is an artist of some note in the scrimshaw community today.
