Buck Knife Question

I owned my last Buck knife around 1979 - 80 and ditched it while running from cops who most certainly were going to roust us for booming along on a country road on our Harleys in the wee hours of the morning at about 90 - 100 mph.

Just a few good old boys having some innocent fun. I went back and tried to find it but never did.

Since then I started buying Cold Steel and moving along til the other day, my daughters fiancée asked if I could fix his Buck 110 ? because the tip broke off.

He hauled it out of the sheath and it was some puny little thing with rounded off polished bolsters, very light, smaller blade (it seemed) and the back lock sticking out in the air.

Heaven's I thought what happened to the big beast that I carried, which was a pocket sword by comparison. Mine had non-radiused brass bolster flatter - all the edges squared off - much heavier, bigger blade etc.

Anyone know what happened? I haven't found any pics of a Buck folder that looked like my old vintage buck folder. Any info appreciated. :)

Is it possible that he had the smaller version Buck. I can't remember the name(maybe Prince), but there is a Buck model that is very much like the 110, but smaller.

Now the new Buck 110 does have more rounded edges, but if memory serves right the blade is actually a bit thicker than on some of the older models, and certainly no shorter.

Buck 112 Ranger I believe is the next size down from the 110.

Yeah, I dunno. I wouldn't exactly call my 110 puny or light. But I have never held the older versions so I can't really compare.

There's little to no overall size difference between and old 110 and a new 110, jsut the newer ones have more rounded off edges on the bolsters.

Either he had a 112, or something from the 500 series would be my guess.

I found my old one on eBay under vintage Buck folders. The old ones weren't rounded or radiused on the edges. This fella's knife wasn't anywhere as big as the 110's so sorry for any confusion. Don't know what model his was.

The prices are nice on the Buck 110's which have nicer finishes too. I don't know why I don't own another one? Better put it on my wishlist which is about 20 entries long already. :D
