I was reading an old copy of American Handgunner, maybe late 2012. A sidebar said Buck accounted for 19% of all knives sold in the US. I love my Bucks, a 105 was my first real knife in 1960, but does anyone know if that percentage is correct and what the current number is? I do my share to keep the percentage high.

Thought I saw a list one time but can't find it now. I have seen it referenced that Buck's main competition is Case, Victorinox and Cutco. If that's the case then I'd say Buck is one of the big boys in the cutlery/knife world.

My Pleasure Stumps. BTW, how did you get that handle? Lumberjack, provider of puzzling math problems, won it in a contest of some sort, hung on you as a badge of courage, your actual middle name, something happened to name you as a child, a cherished family moniker or ...

I still feel like a potentate or VIP or somebody important, and not plain vanilla me, still to this day after being ushered from one insider extravaganza to another at company headquarters. Every employee, expert and celebrity was enlisted to make all of us saturated with all things Buck and they succeeded beyond my wildest expectations. I can't imagine how it could have been any better.

I am a huge Buck fan.

That being said Victorinox Swiss Army Knife has 950 employees and makes 25,000,000 knives a year. Does Buck out sell them in the World....no.

I bet the Swiss knife is in the top three in the USA and not even in the above graph. The NSSF survey is so NOT accurate in the total knife market.

Buck has 200 employees per this link.

CJ Buck says nowadays we churn out over 2 million a year.

Stumps, I was hoping for a whopper of a story about the origin of your nickname. Your capable legs, of course, is the source. I still enjoy a good tall tale now and then.

AW: The National Shooting Sports Foundation surveys some hunters and some target shooters in this country to get their figures. It was sure fun to meet your last Summer in Idaho. What a blast we had. I hope to live long enough to make the next BCCI Anniversary. Yes I do.
