Buck Knife : Sharpen or not or what ?

I have some older (vintage ?) Bucks. The brass is tarnished on most of them. Only a few have been sharpened. I read about guys that sharpen,file,grind,reprofile,send to the factory to be sharpened or have the blades fixxed ? What does this do to the value of the knife? Personally, I buy my knives on ebay for the convenience and variety. People sell Buck knives on ebay that claim to be collectors,but don't know (act like) any thing about date stamps. What should you do to enhance the value of a Buck?

I'm sure you'll get better info from some of the serious collectors here but I'll give my two cents... If you have an unused, unsharpened vintage Buck I would leave it as is. If it's been used and sharpened by a previous owner I would re-sharpen and clean it up. It seems like sparkly Bucks sell better on the big evil E than tarnished ones. Then again some collectors like "patina" (tarnished brass).
 
here is my .02 worth
if it is as new unsharpend with only light patana on the bolsters
do NOTHING but clean with a julery cloth
no polish...
if it is real uneven or has had a sticker on it then clean and polish to shine like you do on a date
if it has been sharpened then send it to buck !
it is like new then !!!!!!

It really can depend on the vintage of the knife. Most knives from before 1961are better off left alone most of the time. Since you mentioned brass, the knives must be from after 1961 and like mentioned above, polishing the brass wont hurt the value.
