Hi all ,Ive always kept my buck knifes in a large display cabinet which is great for viewing handling etc.
However the elements can get to it.I live in a apartment so my kitchen is in my living room the heat from cooking moisture gets on the knives which i do not like.

So i was viewing a video and i thought it was fantastic so i splashed out and bought one. Here it is

Its very highly rated as the most robust case on the market.

I can store nearly 100 buck 110s in the case hold them very secure.
Has a foam called pick and pluck as the name says you pluck the foam to meet your requirements.

Thanks

Wow! That is sweet! Maybe some silica gel packs would help as well. I'm always saving them from various products and throwing them in my safe.

You want to watch out for chemical reactions with any new or untested material.

Could experience a tragic loss.

Its just foam, these cases are designed for storing expensive camera equipment and other valuables to be dragged around the world.
Have a look on u tube. A guy has done the same thing.

Heres some spec

A watertight Pelican Products iPod case
Pelican cases are molded plastic containers that seal with an airtight and watertight gasket. Pelican cases include a barometric relief valve made of Gore-Tex to prevent pressure damage to the case, during transportation or when the air pressure in the environment changes. Pelican cases meet standards for waterproofing, stacking, impact, and durability including MIL-STD C4150-J for waterproofing, IEC IP67 rating indicating complete sealing against dust and water immersion to 1 metre, as well as ATA 300 rating indicating compliance with Air Transport Association standards for durability in shipping. Pelican cases feature a lifetime guarantee. In Europe, they are sold as Peli cases due to the name "Pelican" being trade marked by another company.

If the case falls into water, generally there will be enough air in the case to keep it afloat. The barometric relief valve permits air to pass through, but not water or other liquids. Under some extreme conditions leakage is technically possible, but such conditions are unlikely to be encountered, except in the case of deliberate vandalism.

Yeah, "just foam" could mean a lot of different chemicals.

I'd be very careful until I knew for sure.

We have used various sizes of the same case for years at work and they are super strong. The larger ones we have mounted wheels. Haven't seen any decomposing of the foam that comes with the cases. Don't know about long time storage of the brass against the foam like BG talks about. Just take them out once and a while to check on the brass. Let us know how the brass is holding up.

Maybe plumberdv wil show some pics of what happened to his 500s in a display he thought was safe. It looks great(except it doesnt show anything except the butt) but like edbeau says-keep an eye on it-hope it works out

That's a nice case! But, at $158 each.....I'm not going to run out and get one:eek:

Yeah there not cheap by any means. :)
You cant even put your knifes in the buck leather sheaths without a reaction :)

Aslong as i check them regularly should be fine. Thanks for your comments.

I hope it works out for you. That is a good idea for storing a bunch of 110's!! Nice and neat.:thumbup:

Thanks stumps !
I suppose you can store any knife in these , get them in all different sizes.
Heres the dimensions

1600 Case
Interior Dimensions:
21.43" x 16.50" x 7.87" (54.4 x 41.9 x 20 cm)

Get a bicycle cable lock and lock it to something. So at least someone can't pick it up like a suitcase and walk out your door with it with no effort.....better to be extra safe then eventually sorry. 300

I don't think that Plumber's experiences will happen again with Skelator's foam.
The Box (and the foam) is made for cameras and it would be a disaster
if the camera and the lenses wil get such a surface.

007 should have it so good Skel. Great choice of color. Easy to find when the old homestead is on fire and you need to run with what you can carry. For security you could place a large printed label on the exterior with something like: "Urine Supply" to put off thieves that can read. :)
