I was searching for Buck Knives (combo gift tins, mostly) and noticed there are a lot of Buck knives for sale in Canada that I don't see in the USA. One of the biggest stores in Canada has Buck knives I never heard of. I think they are mostly from China, but they don't state where they are made: 190 Matrixx, 311 Kingsman, 251 Maverick, 253 Durham, 255 Romanov, 260 Razor, etc. Is the reason I never heard of them because they are exclusives to that store? I'm not that interested in them, other than intellectual curiosity, and wondering how many other exclusives that Buck made for the Canada market over the years. What I really would like to get is the 2-knife combo tins that are sold by that store. Especially the ones with with Moose on them. Alas, they don't ship knives from the store. That would have made it easy. I live in Michigan, which of course is relatively close to Canada. But it appears that the stuff I want is only in stock farther in (that is, not in Windsor or Sarnia [although Sarnia does have quite a few of the supposedly Chinese ones]). They are also not cheap, even after the Canadian to US dollar conversion.

I don't know the answer, but interested to hear others chime in.

There would be a few Canada exclusives but not many at least for US made stuff
Most would just be regular production with advertising markings on blade or handle (Canadian Tire,Sears etc.)

I know they did an exclusve for SIR when they shut down
And there are DU Canada sets

I've seen the DU sets. Don't know what SIR means. And of course, I was referring to CT. It does look like they commissioned a lot of non-USA stuff.

I am 2 hours from Sarnia and 1 hour from Windsor. But, as I said, the moose tins look like they are farther east.

S.I.R. was a huge mail order sporting goods since 1924 -at least 2008
Not sure but probably the remnants of the Hudsons Bay Fur Co
At least some of thier inventory definately was

Cabelas bought them out late 1990s i believe
Sorry looks like it must have been around 2008 or later
I have a 2008 SIR catalogue

Cabelas would probably have some china ones
I myself picked up a set of china ones at a Peavy Mart

Walmart and other box type corporate stores in the states had some chinese made models that never showed up in the catalogs. so im not surprised. im gonna say this and its gonna sound harsher than i mean it to...but its just the truth. corporate type box stores and their customers that demand low cost chinese knives, get them. Buck is a business after all.....

So I went to Amherstburg, Ontario from Michigan. They held me at the border for 45 minutes, along with all these Mideastern looking people. They did a thorough search of my RAM truck. Why? They wouldn't say but when they asked me why I was coming into Canada, I told them that I was going to Canadian Tire to buy knives. So that might have something to do about my retention. I am not going to lie about it. That isn't my way. I bought all 6 Canadian Tire Buck Knife exclusives and a Canadian Tire exclusive combo knife set in a deer tin. I am still missing the 2 moose tins and a mountain tin. In case your wondering, Canadian Tire doesn't ship to the US. The 6 knife exclusives are all Chinese-made ones with 420J2 or 7Cr17MoV steels. They are sold in clamshells, which I hate because I am loathe to open them, so I can't fiddle with the knife. On the US side coming home, they couldn't care less about the knives.

Give them time.
