Venting...

Down here in Tampa, Florida area, each and everytime someone does ANYTHING with a knife (mostly bad) and it makes the news(Tampa Bay 10)...this is the picture they use to head up the story...
genthumb.ashx

This one is from tonights news stories, Ive seen the same picture 2-3 times from different stories in the last month alone.

Cant Buck Knives at least make them stop using a picture of one of theirs, have them use some cheap China knife, its more likely thats what was used in the crime anyway.

Keith,
Thats an interesting thought. I will let our marketing department know and see what happens.
Thanks for the heads up!

Did anyone else catch the Buck 110 on last Monday's episode of CSI:Miami?

Good news, a Buck 110 was majorly featured in an episode of a mega-hit TV show.

Bad news, it was used by a teenage boy to murder a city official.

...That's right Trax...The first time I sent an email to the news agency that was responsible ( Tampabays10.com )for the illustration asking them for the reasons they used that specific knife for the lead-in to their story. I never received a response from them...Gonna see if I have that email saved anywhere...
...as of right now...5:48 pm eastern time...that illustration is still up on their "Home Page"...

Chickentrax,
That was probably me...I remember posting something about it long ago:confused:

They have been using that same picture for at least 2yrs that I know of, I do believe it to be longer than that.

Maybe we should all politely email them and let them know our position on how we feel about the unfair use of that knife...
I wonder how many crimes are ACTUALLY used with that knife??
I would be willing to bet they dont go out and buy a hunting knife to commit crimes... Just my 2 cents worth I guess...

...Jim...Like Kdarmy said earlier...That illustration is one that just sits around in their "vault" of reference pictures to be used EVERY TIME an incident occurs where a knife of any kind is used. I hope you have better luck getting them to respond than I did. I'll send another just to make me feel better...

I realize that is a standard pic they use but it could be time for a new pic...
If that knife is used in the crime then I have no problem with it...
But if a jet liner crashes they dont post a picture of a cesna?? :D

...You're right Jim...They just got rid of the "Wright Brothers" bi-plane they had been using about 6 months ago...LOL... :barf:

This kind of crap ticks me right off..... One station here said that a 2001 model truck hit speeds of 140 mph in a police chase.

I ripped off a note that a truck that year model has a restricted fuel governor that would only let it run about 98 mph top end unless it was highly modified. Told them I was going to pull the police report and check and then call someone about irresponsible reporting. I guess it worked... that story was gone within an hour.

Grrrrrrrrr
