Buck leather sheaths

I agree. Oil tanned leather would probably be nicer on the knives.

I've switched entirely to nylon/cordura or kydex for my Bucks. Better for the knife and quicker to dry. Some folks like their leather though. Ain't no fightin' it.

I have a leather sheath that came with a BRKT Northstar. I used SnoSeal to seal it. You need to get the leather warm before you rub it in. A hairdryer can be used to heat up the leather even more and allow the applied SnoSeal to seep further into the leather's pores. You can even run it down in the sheath with a stick, aim the hair dryer down in there, and let it soak in.

Am thinking about getting a kydex sheath for that one too though.

I was wrong!

I did have one Buck 110 in a leather sheath I'd forgotten about. Took a look at it last night, and indeed, there was quite a bit of tarnish. It seemed extreme (almost greenish) on the edges, or rounded corners, of the bolsters.

Brasso restored the knife to its original shine, but I think I may find a synthetic sheath for it.

Nylon sheaths for the 110 have become harder to find. Had to go pretty deep into a Google search. Located one at, of all places, a tool company. They said they only had one left in stock, so who knows if I'll actually get it.

For good measure, I ordered a Buck 55 from them. I hope both the sheath and knife are indeed available.

Anybody know of a good source for 110 nylon sheaths? A looong time ago, Joe scrounged up some that were around the shop and sold them to me. But since then, I haven't really seen nylon sheaths for the 110 by themselves.

I know I'm hijacking the thread about leather a little bit, but partly, I'm just trying to keep it near the top to see if someone from Buck comments about their leather processing.

My sheath doesn't seem to leave tarnish, just my fingers. I store my knife seperate and often just carry it loose in my pocket. But i was thinking that i could maybe put something down in the sheath to protect it from tarnishing. Like maybe stuffing a thin peice of cloth in there or something...i dunno.

I hope mine don't go green. :thumbdn:

Go to a gun show; look for .45 Automatic magazine pouches... :D

If you've got two 110's...get the double magazine pouch...
