I was considering the Buck Legacy Vantage with damasteel blade and Ivory Micarta handles. Does anyone have first hand experience with this legacy collection model? I like the look of it, but the price is rather steep. I’ve heard of lock problems with the Vantage series of knives so I am cautious about spending that much even though I like the blade and micarta scales.

My Vantage was nice everything performed as was to be expected but the knife you're talking about is in my opinion still way to expensive.

I've got a Vantage Pro and really like it. But, the smoothness and F&F are just not in the same category as some of the other knives out there. $400 for the Legacy seems crazy expensive to me. If it were $200? OK, maybe.

For just a little more you can get a used CRK w/ damascus blade that will probably be 99.99% new in reality. Not with Ivory though. Those are quite a bit more.

I agree. I’m looking for a U.S made folder with a Damascus steel blade. There isn’t a lot of options under 650 bucks and up

I can’t find any large 21 for under 600 or so. I’ve definitely considered it

They can be found for a little over $500'ish. Just takes some patience. I'll post a message on your profile about another place to check.

Maybe a little small but Southern Grind had a damascus blade Spider Monkey for under $500. I love my Spider Monkey. One of my favorite knives that is very well made with great F&F. USA Made Blade has them. I've been drooling over one but I already have the standard blade Spider Monkey.

I’m gonna have to check those out. Thanks for the reminder

I can't speak to the quality of the Vantage but I can see why you'd be tempted. I'm a sucker for that black & white/ivory "tuxedo" look on a knife.

A way cheaper option would be to pick up a Kershaw Skyline in Damascus and contact a scale maker about getting ivory micarta scales made. You're looking at an end cost of like $200 tops, and you get a proven knife.

Are Buck folders junk these days? I haven’t had one in many years and it was their standard lock back

The Vantage is a good knife. I really like my Vantage Pro with the S30V steel. The F&F and Action are not bad my any means but it could be better. But, it's a sub $100 knife so I think it's still a good buy.

If this Legacy was around $200, I'd consider it. It is beautiful.
