Had to post this because it goes against an old post I had up.

Bought a Buck Lightning (Small, Plain, Pewter). I had to handle three before getting a tight one, but I'm quite impressed now. Been a week of constant using (testing) and still rock-solid. Edge retention is pretty good (but, I had to regrind because i) I dropped it the first day and nicked the tip

and ii) because I have my own specs for sharpening.

Peels fruit great; cuts cardboard easily; basically handles all chores a small knife should. And it's tight! No need to tighten yet (but I can if I need to - a plus there).

The first time I got one, it was a dud. This one is excellent. Anyone needing a good pocket knife, check out a couple of these and get the good one.

Four stars (out of five).

I second this. I've carried an HTA II for a good number of months now, and it's served me well. The hefty, double-sided thumbstud opens it as fast as an auto when I flick two fingers, with smooth action and a satisfying click when the liner lock catches; this speed might be why they called it "Lightning." The lockup is tight, with no blade play, but the liner is just a touch flimsy. Still, it's a useful and fun pocket knife.

I will add a third opinion on this knife. I just ran across a half off sale on them at a local gun shop and picked up 4 at about $20 apiece. Can't decide which one is my favorite. They all lock up great, but each is slightly different. Beautiful little knives. I think I like the plain blade better and in the red marble finish. It's a keeper. Also got a pair of Intrepids for $55 each. Another love afair is beginning there as well. Never owned any Bucks before. I may be hooked.

I would also like to imput the Lightning as a
very handy user friendly knife.
I got my first one at Bass Pro Shop, Chuck Buck was there so I got my blue one signed.
One hand opening is difficult on most knives
for me with my budy arthor(itis) but I have no trouble with the "Lightning".
I've picked up a black and green camoflage,
will be looking for others.
Hey donarado is that $20.00 sale still on?

Have a KNIFE day,

Frank
