Would be intersted in finding out if there is any collectors value to the M9 Buck model 188. I belive the one I have was manufactured in 1994. The kife is in 85% condition. This knife also has a green handle.

It sounds like a standard issue bayonet to the military to me. There are thousands of them out there, although Buck is not the latest contractor to the military (but should be). Doubt it has collector value, possibly sentimental, or utility value.

Bruce is right. There isn't much collector value in M9s...yet. The green handled ones have been gone longer than the black ones but there are still a lot out there on the secondary market. They would also have to be in new condition to bring a premium.

Realistic value on it though is somewhat below $100.00 to someone who wants a user & a dealer would offer even less which is too bad. They should bring more. The discount market has depressed the prices because there are lots of current issue M9s made by Lancay out there for well under a hundred dollars new. They are inferior to the Bucks but they have dragged the prices down.

You have a very good field knife and it will provide good service for a lot of years if maintained properly. Good luck.

What does the blade stamp say? It is a long shot, but there are some rare M-9's out there that are collectable.
