Buck Machete?

Has Buck ever made or even proto-typed a machete? I know they make hatchets and the Hoodlum is pretty good for some/most of the tasks one might use a machete for but was just wondering if this part of the market is one Buck has even considered entering into? Personally a nicely made, bargain priced machete from Buck is something I'd like to have around the house and in my collection.

Old School Tool the machete. Here is a Condor stainless with sheath and the Hoodlum for scale. $50 @ a show years ago.

I don't think the machete that oregon is showing is or was ever made by Buck. Am I right Steve?

Dave & Dave,

The Condor machete is made by Condor and not by Buck. It was shown to demo only the kind of machete I prefer. However, out in the over-stuffed garage, there is one with a closed orange handle and shorter blade for close work that actually gets used. The Condor, oddly enough, is next to the bed and pristine.

The only ones that I know were made for Employee awards or one off special events. I will try and get pictures of the others for you guys.

Here is another Buck Machete. According to Jim Henson (Buck company historian 2003) this is one of about 80 blank blades that were made. The majority of these have saw teeth on the back side. The blade on this is not stamped but it is signed by Chuck Buck and also included a letter of authenticity.
