I was going through the catalogs on the BCCI site trying to figure out the last year of production for the 422 (I finally got my 422 after some addressing mishaps on my part, and I'm very excited) when I noticed the Buck 306. It looks like maybe Cadet sized with a single blade and scissors, that seems so freaking great! I may have to hunt one down.

The 306 duet is a counterpart to the 305 lancer.
They were first made as the 305 clipper, and I only recall ever seeing the clipper with the 1990 X date code.
The 305 clipper had a keyring hole unlike the 306 Duet, and I believe the clipper scissors were made by Wenger.

I'm torn about whether or not to put a clipper or 306 on my 305 list because I use them all, don't need the scissors since I always carry a 58mm Victorinox for that, and am worried the scissors might not be as good.
Some day I'll have to bite the bullet and check one out but it'll have to be at a low enough price.

That just seems like a really great package. A more useable blade than a Vic Swiss Army Classic but still has scissors. It just looks like a pretty fantastic little knife.

I have been looking for a Duet ( better yet, the whole set) to go along with the 305 Clippers I have. I am still missing the pink one. It is funny how I came across this set. I told a guy I like red knives so he showed me this red clipper. I had never seen them before so while I was talking to him, I was scanning the Buck catalogs. I saw them there and said, "Hmmmm, they come in different colors too.". Then he said, " Oh, yeah I got most of the colors and some special ones.". So then I said, "Well, it seems wrong to break up the set ". So I was able to get what you see here. All NIB. One has a harder-to-find Wenger scissors on it.

You can see some 1989 tang stamps on the post I made here.

About 3 years ago I decided I wanted to give them to my granddaughter's when a seller on the bay had a bunch that wasn't getting bids..I made a offer but was declined. When relisted I was shocked how much they went for.

Ok, I got way too excited about this before reality set in. Yes, a 305 with scissors looks pretty great. However, I briefly thought that there was a 303 with scissors floating out in some undiscovered country. Man, that would have been something.
