The general blade shape and anesthetics of the new Marksman are incredible, but I believe the strap lock is holding back many from buying. Retain the overall look and quality of the Marksman and turn it into a frame lock. I believe a frame lock Marksman would be a gigantic hit for Buck.

I plan on getting a Marksman but have to admit. If it was a frame lock I'd already have one.

While I would never discourage numerous models of knife in different configurations, I think the strap-lock is what makes the Marksman unique. There are plenty of knives available in frame-lock, but no other currently with the strap-lock (that I am aware of). I applaud Buck for not being afraid to try something differnent. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it appears most that have tried it like it.

Much rather have the SLS than a frame lock. Of course I dislike frame and liner locks, so the SLS is a huge part of what piques my interest.

The strap lock is awesome!

I love mine, and have carried and used it since the day I got it.

Definately recommend this knife.

I wouldn't get it if its a framelock. I would want a small version though. I'd have ordered it already if they had a smaller one.

Hmm, you guys seem to like the strap lock. I'm going to try one of these out, I want one

The strap lock is one of the reason I'm interested in it.

I'd love to see some hard use on it.

Someone posted a photo of their Marksman after a hard day of cutting roofing shingles.
It held up well, and that is pretty abusive stuff. Bits of rock, tar etc.....

My concern with the strap lock is it looks like it would catch debris gunk etc. Like I said I still plan on getting one.

Cool I'd like to see the photo if you know where they are.

I did a quick search but didn't find it. Maybe the photo was posted in an SPS thread??
But I know I saw it when it was originally posted :) Tar and all....lol

Check out this thread, the guy took it apart completely :) Also, the strap can easily be removed with just 2 screws.
