I think I all really know the answer to this.

should there be a lil of blade play in the marksman.

My guess is no but I'm new to ball bearings and no nothing about them lol.

Thanks.

ZTD.

You shouldn't have any blade play, up and down or side to side.

Side to side blade play: tighten down pivot screw with a T10. I applied some blue locktite to my pivot screw and have had zero side to side play since.

Up and down blade play: loosen strap lock, and slightly turn the adjustment screw clockwise, retighten strap lock screws.

When lock is engaged, there is some tiny tiny tiny play, which is needed for the lock to work right. If you tighten it to much, you'll fail to open the blade and engage the lock, and then it will swing back to close due to the bearings. I'd tighten very carefully, not much is needed from the factory.

Overtime, with hard use, you will need to adjust the strap lock. Reason being? The blade stop pin is Steel, the pin is seated in an Aluminum handle. Overtime the stop pin will rub/wear on the Aluminum handle causing play.
