A ...I am sure we all have at least 2 favorite bucks. This thread is not about what is the best, but why you, and only you think that your 2 bucks are the best. (notice I gave you room to pick 2, 2 only, pls include model numbers, or common name.)

B...What changes, if any HAVE you or someone else finished on your 2 favorites that makes them special ? ( could be you broke a blade while fishing with your dad, in 1967 and that is what makes them the best to you. Maybe you changed blades, or had someone customize them ) Let's see the photos Please.

C.Harder question. If you know them, and have both seen and held their work, who is the single best Buck Custom Maker ? Alive or Dead, Shop or no Shop, Internet site ? If you pick one, you must share contact info. ( this may be yourself, get ready for some business ).

Very simple rules. Can only pick 2 knives, if you just have 1 or want to enter 1 that is ok. No, and I mean zero arguing in post. It's your choice. Photos, the more the better. No offers to buy or sell in this thread, take it to the exchange. Buck section.

Ok my thread, I will start,

A. Buck 882 Tarani police/military .... Buck Mayo TNT (still looking for Ms.Mayo )

B. I purchased the 882 as trainer, with blue scales, 5 weeks later, It was and is razor sharp, Ats 34 and Bos, are my all time favorites. That knife had pinned scales as well, BLUE. I ordered blue G-10 scales and converted it, using the exact Buck screws the mil/police come with. Like it because it is by only "custom" by me knife. The Buck TnT Mayo, because a passed friend carrier one, no one can now find his, since his death.

c. Easy Mr Leroy Remer, triplerknives.com he worked for Buck and he is just good at what he does. I have 2 custom 110s he customized.....

unlike you, I do not have photos.. txs rb.

I would have to say the one I like the the best is my Bob Timberlake Mini Alpha hunter with partial chip flint blade, and turquoise and ironwood scales
My second favorite would have to be my alpha dorado with mokume bolsters and giraffe bone scales signed by Chuck Buck.
I haven't modified any knives. Favorite designer would be wbc.
I'm

My first would be my olive drab pre-1987 Bucklite 422. This was my first real knife out of high school and my first Buck and this was my only knife for about 15 year until it was stolen, so no picture. My wife bought me a new in box hunter orange 1990 Bucklite for my birthday that is pretty close to my original in Oct. of last year.
But then this past Christmas, I got a green Buck 110 ecolite/paperstone and this thing hasn't left my pocket since. The way it is made, I don't think it's ever going to get any scratches or character. It rides in my pocket better than any small knife ever has.
I've never had a custom knife so I can't answer C, but I do go to the Buck website and play with designing a 110 custom with bone scales, if that counts. One day, I might buy one off of there with elk scales.

A. Favorite two knives. the 110 Hunter as it feels good in the hand, easy to use for many different jobs and a good solid knife. Second is the 119 Special. Carried one in Vietnam and have had one every since. Works great on splitting the chest of a deer open. Most think it is to big to skin with or do some detailed gutting. For we it is the only one along with the 110 when big game hunting.
B. CUSTOM KNIFE MAKER: My choice by far is Heath Stone (stoneknifeworks, com) He works with Leroy Remer but each in different states. He has worked on Buck Custom Shop knives and is an all around great guy. Personally he has put custom handles on at least 33 knives and repaired about 15 to 20. I would not use anyone else while Heath is in Business. As I said besides a hgreat custom knife maker he is a tremendous person to know.

My first would be my 110 been on every deer hunt I ever went on and dressed out my first deer. Plus I never go in the woods without it no matter what. Second is my buck 360 multi tool (don't know if this meets your criteria) but it is on my belt 365 days a year. Never had any of my buck knives modified, perfect as they are. As far as a custom knife maker I am not familiar enough with everyones work to vote but have seen some beautiful customs.

Two favorites would be my Carbon fiber Mayo and pretty much any 110. As far as customs the only one outside of the current Buck Custom Shoppe that I have any experience with is my all brass 110 from Jared at JAG Custom Knives.

Kind of partial to this 110. You just don't see a lot of these with nickel bolsters outside of the custom shoppe. Least I don't.

First, wow ! what an honor to have you post on this thread, Mr. ChicoMike knows knives, and has the scars to prove it. One recent thread on another site, asked "are you a badass" , well we just had a real one post here. Thank you sir for stopping in and my honor.

Certainly, Heath Stone gets a shout out ! In my haste I failed to link Leroy and Heath and you are 100% correct, for a rainy day look, you can not pass up Stoneknifeworks or Triplerknives.com.

WHY ? because both masters understand the materials they are working with, and just how far they can push them. All the knives they sell can and should be used. Great post, ChicoMike.
