Buck Mayo Northshore . . . ??

I have Buck Mayo TnT and a Northshore. The Northshore is a great value IMHO. I think I have some pics with a TnT and Northshore side-by-side.

I can't find the pics...but....the Northshore is about the same size as the TNT. The 420hc blade is quite a bit thicker than the S30V blade on the TNT and is ground different. The liner lock on the Northshore is solid and locks up tight.

Grab one...you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Had a TNT some years ago but let it go in a moment of weakness . . . Placed an order for one of these . . . At less than $20 couldn't talk myself out of it . . . ;)

I have "HiLo" model, (179) which I believe is very similar and I got it on sale at Cabela's six months to a year ago. Very nice Chinese-crafted knife, but I noticed what I thought were some flat spots on the edge recently. Turned out to be tiny chips in the edge.

I have a big diamond steel and about thirty strokes, coarse to fine, took the chips out and the knife is nice and sharp. I remember using it for some fairly hard cutting, but nothing abusive or even real tough.

So......I'd say that in this case the steel (which is claimed to be 420HC) is not very good.

I'm thinking this may be a comparable knife to the one you're talking about and just wanted to let you know my experience.

I think these are both discontinued, but I'm not sure.

Heres a half decent pic of Northshore/TNT/Hilo and a Cutback. My Waimea is in route...I tried to get a couple of the cabela's Northshores about two weeks ago and was emailed that they were out of stock so I got a Custom 110 instead...

I'd spend my money on the police strider they have on sale instead of this one.

If you live close to a Cabela's you can beat the shipping cost by choosing "In-Store Delivery" and picking it up at the store.

Appreciate the info, guys . . .

This has been interesting . . . Placed the order with Cabela's and got an email confirming the Mayo Northshore was in stock and would be delivered at my home on July 23.

Then, got an second email saying the knife was 'discontinued' and out of stock.

So . . . guess that's the way it goes. Nothing for it . . . didn't really need the knife, but at $20 delivered . . .

May buy the police strider instead . . .
