Buck Mayo TNT suggestion

The Buck Mayo TNT 172 is an exceptionally wonderful knife. I was just thinking that if the horns were eliminated, as they are on many of Tom Mayo's handmade customs, the knife would be absolutely perfect. After all, the thumb just seems to naturally extend past the horns and onto the top of the blade for a naturally comfortably fit. Opinions? I'm not handy with a dremel to level off the horns.

It is a fine knife indeed and, I tend to agree with you on the horns but, it would also need a multi-way clip for it to be considered virtually perfect. But as it is, its a fine knife indeed.

Someone posted pictures of just such a modification. I don't recall who or when, but it looked quite nice. Try a little searching and see if you can find it.

I cut the horns off mine. I used a 4X36 belt sander. I also was not fond of the up-swept blade, so I dropped that down and knocked off all the sharp edges. After that, I gave it away! (still wondering about that one):foot: :)  ;)

Yep, I loved it except for the horns and the too small lock cutout. I sold it before it occurred to me it could be modded. Opps. :foot:

I have considered buying a real Mayo but most of them I see have horns.

I like the horns. My thumb fits perfectly on the horn along the spine and the one by the lock acts as a guard. But I have small hands, so a longer thumb might want more room.

He (Tom Mayo) has a small warncliff model that i will "just have to have" that has no "horns". I love it!

DITTO!! I feel the exact same way!!

i like the horns on it as well, to me they feel like the natural place for my thumb, but to each his own i suppose. although i woul like to get mine modded so i can get to the framelock a little easier.
