i really love the looks and materials of the buck/mayo tnt and might be ordering one next week. overall the comments on it seem very high, but there have been several saying the fit and finish arent too great, are those people that are comparing them to their sebbies or no? anyways help me out here guys cuz i am really wanting one.

The few I've handled had excellent fit & finish and crisp action. I think they are a bargain at the price, a really fine gentleman's knife.

really, thats great to hear. i really like the knife cuz it looks good enough to be a gents knife. ill be honest, im not hard on my knives at all, i mainly cut occasional things, like a plastic bag, rope, just simple things but i still like having "the just in case" help in my pocket ya know.

This would be perfect for you. It's compact but strong and sharp, so it can handle real work, without being a tactical monster.

Titanium framelocks! :D

To me it is one of those knives you need to handle before you buy.

I looked at three at a store and found one that I seriously debated on buying. Wish I had, as I would like a knife in BG42 (vice the new ones of S30V).

Unfortunately, too many people seem to compare Ti frame lock knives to the Sebenza IMO. Each knife should be looked at on its own merrits.

As with any knife, I recommend checking how it feels in your hand.

ive also been looking at a benchmade mini skirmish for while. same materials and i really like benchmade knives. choices choices. but i like the smaller size of the tnt. unfortunatly i dont have the opportunity to handle the tnt. if the fit and finish of the tnt isnt to my standards would buck let me return it for a new one? sorry so many questions, im just not able to buy many knives (my wife).

I'm sure if it were so badly made it was defective, you could return it. But that's only one reason I'd go with a dealer rather than a manufacturer. It gives you more choices, better prices, and an extra level of customer service.

The mini-Skirmish. I was more impressed with the mini than with the full-size Skirmish, and it's not just the handle size -- I have big hands. It's just more comfortable as a user, unless you need a huge cutting and chopping blade.

I must sound like a broken record by now, but I've had 3 sebenzas. Sold them, and now carry as part of my EDC a Buck/Mayo 172. Its a very good knife that is very well executed. I know there were some issues when the 172 first came out, but they've been corrected now. I've never tried the Mini-Skirmish, but I'm sure it feels as good as the full sized one. I would just prefer the 172 for your purposes. Trust me, it'll scare the NKPs a LOT less than the wide blade on the Mini- even if the 172 IS pointier.

I have a Buck/Mayo TNT, and the fit & finish on mine is perfect!! I LOVE this knife!! It is fantastic!! Yes, it IS worth every penny!! i highly recomend this knife! I LOVE titanium and S30V. It is most excellent for EDC.

I have a Buvk 172 TNT that's a regular player in my EDC rotation. It's light, strong and a great cutting knife. I will say that I have a problem with the sharp edges on the handle scales though. For the longest time, whenever I had it clipped to my pocket and reached in for something else, I felt like I was skinning the back of my fingers as they'd rub against the sharp edges. I finally took it apart and smoothed out those rough parts and then bead blasted it for a nice even finish. That treatment has taken if from a knife that I'd carry ocassionally to one I really enjoy and carry often. I also removed the top "guard" bump that was not comfortable to me when I'd put my tumb on top of the blade. It's a good knife with the potential to be a great knife with a litttle TLC and fine tuning. Surprisingly, I had a Chinese hade Hilo for a short time and the overall finish was smoother than the US made TNT. Of course, none of them are as smooth as my real TNT, but that knife is a safe queen. I have a small Sebenza too but probably carry the modded Buck more often.

The one I handled was fantastic, and a bargain at the price. I think that you can pick them up for ~165.00

I have one in my pocket as I type. Purchased earlier this week from Ira Wood. Great price and free fed-ex delivery. While not as knowledgeable as most on the forum, this seems very well executed with excellent fit and finish. I went an the advice of others and feel that very few knives at that price point could challenge this model. Definitely a quality knife that locks up like a vault and very sharp! Hope this helps. Bradley

My Buck/Mayo TNT came with a superb fit and finish and you can bet that Bos knows how to heat treat it.
It's one of the sharpest folders I have received. I love Buck's new sharpening angle.
Yeah, if you buy one you will be getting your money worth.

I purchased one of these during the first batch that was produced and the fit and finish was fine with me. It is a good EDC.

I got mine from Ira Wood and love it, recommend it highly, Great for EDC. Part of my regular rotation.

I think it is worth it. The Mayo used to cost a lot, but now it has gone down a lot on the street. For the price, I do have other preferences, but the Buck Mayo has established a solid reputation.

Hardly necessary at this point, but I'll add that once my 172 arrived it hasn't left my pocket and I THREW THE BOX AWAY
At Ira Wood's price especially, it is very hard to beat.

I also am very fond of the TNT Mayo. Mine came from IRA Wood ($145 the best I can remember). There have been some reports of inconsistent quality in this knife but, I think all the ones currently being produced are first rate in this regard. I believe it was in the earlier production runs that inconsistent quality was noted.

My one and only complaint is that I wish the the clip was multi-mountable because I like tip-up carry in the right hand pocket.

Let us know what your impressions are after arrival. Be sure to get free shipping by using outdoor as your coupon code. It is explained on the ordering page, but I was slightly confused during my order. Hope this helps. Bradley
