buck mayo tnt

What kind of question is that.? Are you one of those philosophical types,?kind of a how high is up type question?

Buck lists msrp $296.00 you see them on ebay for 180. 1sKs has them for 190..

Any object is worth what you are willing to pay.

If you are asking is it a good knife go pick one up, open it and close it. S30v blade, titanium frame lock. I think they speak for themselves.
Yes, I have one, to me it was worth the price.

I just ask cause i won one on ebay for 157 shipped . just seeing if i got a ok deal . thanks

157 is as good deal.
I just bought mine second hand, but new for $150.
Keep an eye on ebay.

W O W !!! That was a harsh begining to a simple question!! Kennieyk, I had one for about 20 minutes then sold it.It is a great knife but I like a thumb stud and I have pretty big hands so that little thing didn't do much for me so to answer your question, it was worth a $15.00 loss because I sold it for $15.00 less than I paid.Is it worth the $180.00 that they retail for?Philosophicaly speaking,:barf: If it fits your hand and your real happy after you get it then yes!!!

I got one inbound that I bought from another forumite for $155.00. I haven't been able to find one to hold in my hand so I can't say how I'll like it. It'll be my first knife with a hole in it. I have a small Sebbie to compare it with. I'm hoping the Buck will be close in fit and finish. I'll probably keep it anyway as it'll be one of the last Bucks to be made in CA and a great collaboration as well. Besides, I need something with a silver clip to wear with my tan khakis. The black clip from my 941D2CF stands out on light pants.

Masterchef, I did'nt mean to be harsh. I might have benifited from tuning my answer a bit. After the second post by kenniek I understood better where he was coming from.
I might suggest a more direct question, like. I paid $157on ebay for a Buck\Mayo did I get taken. or something to that effect.
Since that was really the question.
kenniek I hope I didn't upset you. If I did sorry.
Cheers. Enjoy your knife. I use my Buck\Mayo as sheeple protection when I am sporting a tie and need a knife. I'm sure you'll find good use for yours.

I bought mine 2 months ago, $ 190.00 at the local B & M. All in all, a super knife. Mine came very sharp, S30V, lock up is solid.
If there is anything somewhat neg. to say about this knife, it 's that the pivot screw under the clip lossens up a bit. That will allow just a tiny amount of play in the blade. This happens after a couple of weeks use. But, I just purchased some blue loctite (Pro-Seal / Pro-Lock) and that will take care of this problem.
I 'am not sure that it's quite the same fit and finish as my sebbie, but surely it's just as good, if not better, than other knives in it's price range.
I found the buck / mayo to be well worth the money.

Its ok , I was not that clear in my post. Happens alot sorry.

mumbleypeg I think we all get that same problem on the other end of the computer.I reread alot of things I write and sometimes I just delete them because they didn't come out the way I meant !!! As you said it's worth the price!

Okay, what's this about the clip being part of the pivot arrangement? I was quite excited about the knife until the moment I read that. Is there a way to remove the clip, and still have a tight blade??? Will I have to find an insert to keep the knife working?

I'm worried, so any help will be appreciated. Things would be so much easier if all the knife sites would show a pic of the back side.

Great knife for the money. You can't do much better without going to a custom. I paid a bit more for mine ($200) back when they first came out, but it was still worth it.

The pocket clip attaches with two small screws (#2-56 with T-6 head). The top end by the bend lays over the recessed larger pivot screw (#4-40 with T-8 head). You can remove the clip and tighten the pivot, if necessary.

The pivot is comprised of two screws inserted into opposite ends of a 3/16" cylinder, with nylon washers separating the blade tang from the liners. It should stay a tight fit, but if one side shows a tendency to loosen while the other does not, you can simply reverse the cylinder and screws, to expose the "looser" end on the non-clipside handle for easier readjustment when necessary.

I got the oppty to handle one recently. Fantastic fit and finish, cool box. feels great, too small. It's the nicest production folder I've actually handled, maybe barring William henry. Under 200 seems good to me--Joe

The Buck mayo is an incredibly well made knife even for $300 let alone $180-$200 which it can be found for with a little effort. It truly approaches a Sebenza in precision, yet can be had for less $$$. I think it compares favorably to the real Mayos, of course the real TnT's are better, but then again, they also sell for around $1,000!

If you dont want to spend that kind of money, you can get the Buck version which is surprisingly close to the real thing and at a very reasonable price.

Well I just got one in the mail today :) Feels kinda light ! Kinda hard to unlock it , maybe needs to be broke in . I dont wanna use it till i get my apex :) My lansky just sucks ! I paid 157 all together for the buck mayo :)

While I like the overall form factor and blade and handle shape, I must say I'd be an unhappy guy if I paid $296.00 for it. Comparisons with a small Sebenza are inevitable. I visually find the Buck Mayo more pleasing and I really like the sort of guard designed into the handle and I love the high hollow grind, but it's no Sebenza.

I think the overall design is great (afterall it is a Mayo), it's the execution I take issue with. You would certainly never mistake it for a real Mayo. There is as much lateral blade play as I find in a much less expensive Benchmade 94x and certainly more than is found in an Al Mar Shrike or SERE 2K for much less money. The main edge bevel is also somewhat uneven and the blade is not centered when closed.

These issues may well be unique to my sample and while overall I think it's a neat knife, it's not worth $300.00 IMHO, but would be a great knife in the price range of a Benchmade 94x.

Of course there is Paul Bos treated S30v which probably counts for something extra.

If you have that many problems, send it to Buck and have them fix it, it really should be much better than that, and the one that I had was.
