I have a 3 pin Buck 112 with what appears to be a factory lanyard ring. I have contacted Buck and they are not sure about it being real. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I collect vintage Gerber and I am lost here except for the fact that I am sure this is a real Buck and that it is factory work. The blade is marked Buck 112< USA. The less than mark may be my clue. I would post pics but cannot figure it out.

Welcome. The < mark is Buck's date code for 1986, the first year they started date that process. You can do a search in this forum about your knife as I'm pretty sure others have run into this from time to time. Pretty sure the conclusion was that the lanyard hole was an after market \ owner Mod and not a factory job.

Found these. Buck did. Make a few 110's with a lanyard.

This is a perfect fit steel piece with an eyelet for a lanyard. It is held by two pins that are barely noticeable . I am ok with it not being factory but would sure like to meet the guy that made it!!

Thanks. I sure wish I knew who did the work. It is a perfect fit thats looks like it came with the knife. I guess this guy put in the two pins to hold the lanyard piece.

This is an added ring that was added by taking the whole knife apart. After my daughter looked at it with a loop we can see where someone made the ring piece and left rough edges on the inside of the knife. Buck would not have let that pass. Thanks for the help. Mystery solved...except who in the heck would spend that amount of time on a thirty dollar knife? Thanks y'all.

Hi beemn, can you send us a close up of just the rear bolster with the Luring? That bolster looks short in your photo, like the brass was ground away from the steel spring holder.

You are right no picture necessary. It is amazing how much help there is here . Thanks for the help.

beem, I think someone converted the blade to a full flat grind and got the spine right but over worked the edge. Which is easy to do. Still, a good, usable knife. DM
