I came across this knife on ebay, a Jumbo 2 blade trapper with smoothblack composition handles with the old buck shield and a new limited edition shield. Serial # on nickel silver bolster and lanyard hole in handle. Master blade is stamped "BUCK" only, and is etched 2000 yesterday-today-tomorrow. The spey blade is etched with Chuck and CJ(if you can read it)'s signature. Nice knife. My question is, Did we overlook the announcement of this knife in the news letter? I do not recall this pattern being in the Buck product line, also there is no pattern # or USA? I was lucky enough to grab 2 of these.

the knife you are talking about is available from Smokey Mountain Knifeworks. There are 2 models, the one you describe and one with stag handles, I beleive. I hope you didnt pay more than SMKW is selling them for because they are still available.
If you cant find their website, I'll look for the catalog tommorrow. BTW-these may have been made exclusively for SMKW.
Hope this helps

Thank's Dave and Joe. Yes Dave I would like to know what Smokey Mountain is selling them for. I haven't gotten one of their cataloges for a while, everything I call about to order is sold out so I guess they think I don't care. If you find the prices for both and their phone #, I'll see about getting the stag.
I can't believe Buck Knives made it all the way to New Jersy (Ha! Ha!)
By the way, Smokey Mountain in this link section does not work.
Joe, tell CJ I was only kidding about his signature. Hope to see you all at the Blade Show in Atlanta.

Frank, I hope you didnt pay more than $49.99 for those babies cause that is what SMKW is selling them for. The other model has jigged bone handles and presentation case for $79.99.If you call SMKW the model #'s are BU9166 for the black composition handles and BU9170 for the jigged bone. They also have a nice Buck knifestand for these knives for $2.99.
BTW- I am a New Yorker who happens to reside in NJ right now.
So you gonna tell us what you paid for those knives???

Hi Dave, You won't believe the bargain I got, I paid $49.98!!!!!. Also saved on shipping with buying 2. I got them from Texas.
Thanks for all the info. Now we've got jigged bone, are there 3? What happened to stag? I jigged bone worth $30.00 more?

Frank, you may not believe this but, I made a mistake. There never was stag-it was jig bone. The jigged bone may be worth $30 more considering that model also comes in a nice display case. Guess it depends on what you like.
What I'd like to know is how that person selling made any money if he sold them for the same price he paid? Unless he got a discount for bulk buying.

Do any of you guys know what SMKW's web
address is? Or email? Or phone number? Or
even...their address???
Hehehe...I'd like to get one of their
catalogs again.

Dave & John, Yes I wondered that myself, I don't think that Smokey discounts much to dealers. At any rate, it's a nice knife, I just found a 1995 Buck catalog, there is a model 314 that is a similar trapper except it has rear bolster and no lanyard hole.
Eureeka!!!! I just took a break and my put my life in great peril (if you ever saw my office/knife room you would understand.), but in spite if it all, I found Dec. 99 SMKW catalog with the afore mentioned in it.

Their Phone # 1-800-251-9306.
