This knife looks sweet.

For those who use one, how do you like it?

Does the exposed tang feel bad in the hand?

Is it good for anything except skinning (how would it work as a small fixed EDC)?

Is the blade too wide and dropped to peel an apple or potato very well?

Does the drop of the blade and bulit in guard hinder fine work which would be expected of a knife that size?

I would be paring this with a hatchet and a carbon trapper for most outdoor activities.

Please advise.

This is the full size Alpha. I have handled the mini and did not like the feel of the wood. If stag is your thing then I would check Buck to see if they offer the mini in stag. For me the stag offers better balance and handling. Just like the mini alpha I also have the exposed tang, but the stag is wider and takes the feel of the steel away from my hands. I have held all the alphas at Bass Pro and the stag beat them all. The feel of a knife in your hand is very important. I use mine for all sorts of minor camp chores.
