hi, my wife presented me with a buck knife model 100A folding pocket knife with an engraved blade, for our 42nd wedding anniversary. the engraving on the blade is a banner with H. H. BUCK on it and then a blacksmith shed and further down a general store, all in what looks to be gold engraving. I'd be mighty appreciative of any information regarding when it was made and what the value might be. I'm new to this forum so if I messed this up, I apoligize. thanks, highpockets.

Hello Hipockets,

Welcome to the buck knife fourm. Sorry i don't have the information you are looking for. However, I'm sure someone here will be able to help you. Can you post a picture of your knife; that gives us all a chance to see what you've got and will help to identify it. If it were the 110^ model with the H. H. Buck's Smithy blade etch I could identify it for you. I have never seen a model 100 before.

highpockets,

Can you post a picture of your new knife? If our knowledgeable group here can't answer your question; I'm sure someone from Buck can answer your question.

Are you sure it is not a 110 with an upside down V (1988 year code) on it?
Please double check the tang stamp. Buck made a gold etch 110 featuring a gold etch of the old HH Buck blacksmith shop in that time frame.
I am unaware of a model 100.

Model 100, The Whittler, 6" overall length and a 2 1/4" blade. Circa 194?-1952Came with handles of either micarta or Lignum Vitae.

It would not have H.H. Buck engraved on the blade although it is possible he could have made it. :D

But seriously, your knife sounds very nice and I would bet that it is probably a 110. Sometimes the stamp can be difficult to read. I keep a magnifying glass on my desk at all times.

Hi Joe & Hipockets,

I did a search on the BCCI site and found the model 100 Whittler; its a fixed blade knife. Hipockets said his new knife was a folding pocket knife? hipockets is your knife a locking single blade, or a multi-blade slip joint? Check out the link I have posted and go down to the 9th or 10th knife and see if it is like your knife.

hi highpockets,

I hope you enjoy your limited edition Buck 110, its truly a beautiful knife and commemorates the founder of the Buck knife legacy. Take care of that special lady who got you such a nice anniversary gift. My wife just doesn't understand why anyone would want to collect knives.

Yep...what John said.
42 years? Very impressive. I trade mine in every 12. At least that has been the pattern for the two that were in my EDC rotation so far.

I never get rid of a knife...they just move to the bottom of my EDC list. :D Aside from the 102 that my mother apparently got rid of once I left the nest, I can't remember ever getting rid of a knife. :o

Mike, I'm not so sure that Trax and Goose were talking knives;). Maybe I read to much into things:D. Preston

You are correct...
Wife, not knife.

Hmmm, interesting how the two nouns are similar and just as dangerous!!!!
