Can someone help me with a description of these knives? From what I have seen (limited to small pictures), they appear to be a styled version of a 110 or 112. When were these knives made, and why were they discontinued? If anyone has good pictures of one of these knives, could be be posted in a reply? Thanks.

The 111 and the 55 were introduced in 2005. The 111 was discontinued in the Fall of 2008. I don't know why it was discontinued but I would guess that they were too similar to the 110 (same frame and blade but different bolster configuration) thus adding to inventory without value add to the company. Further, getting the correct match between the bolsters and the inlays could not have been easy except by using a CNC controlled mill or LASER.

I always liked the 111 much better than the 110 for the look of the bolsters.Yes, I'm sure that was an ordeal to fit the inlays on that model.Just glad I got one.DM

these can still be bought on the bay, I just bought a new one last week for 22.00. I also like the bolster design better than the 110.

I'm with you DM, maybe that's why I like the little 55 so well also. It is more like a tiny 111 than a 110. I bought as many different versions of the 111 as I could find. I particularly like the NS bolsters. Here's one of mine.
