hey guys,

I've heard that the buck/strider M889 SBMF has been discontinued, and I know where I could get one for about 45 bucks. Is it worth it?

I never really looked at them before, but i really like my Buck Nighthawk fixed blade and after seeing the torture testing done on the nighthawk at www.knifetests.com, I became interested. I'm looking for a tough, thick bladed folder that can take quite a beating and still do it's job. I'm just wondering if this is my ticket.

The only downside that i have heard about this knife is that the liner lock easily gives way. Any of yall who have this knife experienced this? And if you have, is there an easy way to fix it? Thanks.

Great knife; although the liner lock is not that good. but it depends on what your using it for, as a utility knife it's works fine, if you want to hammer it into trees buy a Strider, for the price you can't go wrong! oh yeah it's worth it, I got mine for 60 with shipping.

Great bargain knife. The Strider Buck 889 is a tough knife with a solid liner lock.

NOTE: the SBMF 889 has thicker liners than the Police models.

Hey Jake...

I love my 889's.
So far, I have not had a liner lock failure.
If you get one, report back here on how ya like it :)
