I thought they were black phenolic handled, that's the only reason I was asking.

There were some made in 1971 with that 2 line stamp using micarta handles. They could have gotten the plastic divers sheath.
Those were supposed to have partial serrations which this one doesn't but it could have occurred. Late in 71 this model was
discontinued and brought back in 1973 with the 3 line stamp and the swinging leather sheath. Hope this helps. Something that would help is if Dick gave more info. but often these are purchased on the bay and that info. is missing. DM

I've handled some of those sheaths and they seemed sound. If they laid in sun light they could be fragile. DM

In my experience that is true. I have several that are cracked or missing a chunk. Same holds for used ones on the bay sometimes.... examine the pictures very closely if it is a used sheath, particularly around the opening and backside. I don't know what they were like 45-50 years ago but they seem pretty stiff now.
