Hello, new to this forum, I have a question about a Buck Nighthawk that I saw at a local Wal-Mart. The model is B556-ODX-WM, the knife is the same as a regular short nighthawk, olive drab handle, black blade. The big difference is that this one knife has grooves cut into the blade spine, on the bolster like the strider model, and the whole spine of the knife is mirror polished. Also, the sheath has a few differences. The Buck lettering is black, and the button on the strap is covered with cloth. Could this be something special, (or am I just hoping it's something special) because I haven't been able to find another one like it? Thanks

Welcome to Bladeforums! I'll move this thread to the Buck Knives Forum for you.

They are made in our USA factory. I don't know of that config either.. Sounds like it might be a modified return.. I'll dig through and see if I find anything in this config, but I'm pretty sure that isn't anything we did.

Interesting! I never thought that it might be a return. I also talked to a guy at a local knife shop and he said that buck does that from time to time and sends them randomly to dealers. Wonder if there's any truth to that? Thanks for the frendly welcome, it's good to be here, by the way!
