Just a curious question, I have owned my nighthawk for a few years now and when I wanted to find out more info on the knife I noticed that all the knives I saw had the black and green handle. My knife has solid black grips, the knife was nearly new when I got it. Does anyone have info on the solid black handle model.

My brother has the black & green handle & the knife looks good but you can't get it to sharpen back, this is one of the hardest knives to get an edge back on :grumpy: Whats the deal with this model ? or is it just a cheap non- dependable knife that you shouldn't waste $ on ? Any one else have this problem ?

A little time on my Sharpmaker and strop got my short Nighthawk to a point where I can shave the hair off the back of my hand.

It's probably that you are using a different angle than the blades edge is ground at. Some of these had a very thick edge from the factory. Buck made them at first with a not so sharp edge for chopping and edge strength. Then, I remember reading they started using a thinner edge.

Thanks for the info, looks like a good idea to keep it. And I agree with the sharpening my edge is extremly thick, almost like a 45 degree. But I can get reasonable sharpness. Almost like a bayonet edge, my issued M7 is not a shaver but that's not it's intended use. Maybe they wanted this knife to be an awesome penetrator.

I have two of the all black models they are a fine knife just a pain to reprofile, lots of really hard metal to get rid of .the all black is just the older model from way back before they made the short and most had partial serrations

Mine has the regular non serrated blade with the non coated blade, its gray I believe it says 640C, but I could be wrong I'm at work.
