I have a buck nighthawk and the spine is to thick to get a good edge with, what would you use to thin it down some.....I need some suggestions?????

The spine or the grind? You can reprofile the edge with diamond stones fairly easily.

reprofile the grind, my bad, it's almost as thick as the spine.....that should clear it up.....

Start with a coarse DMT bench stone and work through the bevel until you thin the edge down where you want it. Then it's up to you to decide if you want to convex the edge or make a secondary bevel and then sharpen up on progressively finer grits.

I have had one for years and love it but I had to reprofile the hell out of it then I convexed it .Now it works great and it`s still tough enough to throw ;) .I stripped it then I thinned the edge and convexed it then I did a funny jeweled looking finish with a dremel .My best buddy used it on a Carabou hunt and it came back sharp.
