Hi folks,

IMG_2082.JPG

I really like this knife (especially with a kydex sheath) but never handeld one, what's your opinion/experience with this knife ??? Seems to be a great deal for the $$$

Ain't got no flippin' lanyard hole in the handle. How the heck am gonna tie some para cord to it?
Actually, other that holding one in a knife shop, I have no experience with one. I would already have one if it had a lanyard hole in the handle. I don't know why that is such an issue for me. Didn't that NOSS4 guy (I think that is his name on here) do a destruction test of one? I'm off to search!!!!!!!! Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the old one. with the black handle.
It appears to be a good knife.
A satin blade would be better.
It's thick, hollow ground :-( and is made of stainless steel.
If you want to abuse it, the tip will probably break. If you don't plan to abuse it, this thickness is useless, IMHO a rat ( or a ranger ) are far better

I had the original and the new one.
Both great knives; tough as all hell, great ergonomics on the handle, and you can use the spine as a hammer and not damage the knife(really!).
GREAT bang for the "Buck"; buy one for sure.

I love the ergonomics, one of the most comfortable knives I've fondled.

Some time back there was a Nighthawk topic where someone described using one during a military winter survival class. As I recall the review was very favorable.

Now it's made of 420hc like most of Buck's knives. Years ago it was made of 425M.

I have the old rare tanto blade version, which is no longer made.

Excellent knife, for what it is and the price. Yes, probably the best production knife for the price. Very strong and arguably the best handle on a production knife for any price.

It's in my BOB as a knife I would give to someone else if I am so inclined and if they really need one. It's my extra knife that I don't care too much if someone else ruins it or loses it, I have others in my BOB no one but me can touch.:) (that I made myself)

First of all, thanks for all replies, the Nighthawk seems to be a great deal, if you have to choose between the Nighthawk and another best seller like the Cold Steel SRK, wich one did you choose ??? ;)

I would rather have an SRK but I am a fan of AUS8 steel which is what they are now made of. I will probably eventualy get a Night Hawk after I get a Gerber Prodigy or LMF.

i've had a couple and they've done well for me, good knife for the money. my only complaint was with the old nylon sheath if they now make it with a decent quality kydex then i may try one again.
