Buck Nobleman help

:thumbup:Got the smaller Colleague.
Fit and finish - very good.
Lockup - 100% solid
Design - Nice framelock, hollow ground blade. Feels good in the hand. Well ballanced. Blade shape is qulte useful.
Edge retention - Good. Supposed to be 440A. I had my blade measured for hardness and it was 58HRC.
I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Colleague.

I just purchased both the Nobleman and the Colleague for the hell of it because they're so cheap. I must say that these knives are unbelievable for the price. I find them very attractive and the fit and finish is on par with much more expensive knives. The lock up is absolutely rock solid on both. Most of my knives are of the more "tactical" variety for EDC with some nicer pieces for 'suit and tie' carry. However, and I know I'm not the only one, I'm too careful using those more expensive knives out of fear of scratching them or even losing them. So the Nobleman is perfect for me. My only gripe for the Nobleman is that I wish it was tip up. On the colleague, I wish it had a clip, not to clip to the pocket, but to aid in closing it one-handed.

I also got the Colleague.
Doesn't feel good in the hand, its to small.
Unlocking the framelock is really annoying, have to use both hands a lot of the time
Fit is not all that good to.

Lock up is solid.
Knfe is pretty sharp out of the box.
No blade play what so ever.

Your first two comments match my experience.

I have several knives with 2" blades and none of them feel big enough when in use. I have no choice in the size department because the company I work for has instituted very stringent knife size limits. 2" max blade length and 4 1/2" overall open length. Ach, I am too old and have too much seniority to leave.

Like you, I use two hands to close the knife.

The fit and finish on mine was quite good.

 Didn't you say in the second post that it feels good in the hand?

Either way, it is quite a small knife and I agree its hard to close one handed which is why it needs a clip. I have success opening and closing it one handed with my left, however. Anyhow, the orginal post was regarding the nobleman, hard to beat for under $20.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. For a knife that size the Colleague does feel good. I like it better than my Ladybug. What I was trying to say is that for the Colleague to feel awkward is an issue with the size and not really the knife design. I find that 2" bladed knives are smaller than what is really comfortable for me to use.
