Thought I'd come over to the Buck Forum to ask you Buck guys my question. I have a 2020 BOM 501 Squire with Burgundy Burlap Micarta covers. The covers are not riveted. Can I expect these covers to hold up and not loosen with the same level of use I use with my 501 Squires with riveted covers? In other words, are non-riveted covers as rugged as riveted covers?

Oddly enough.. I have my moms 501 from the days when Buck was in script. It has Stag covers that are Pinned 🫣 No cracks or any problems around the pinned areas.

Perhaps irrelevant considering the question has already been answered but I seem to remember that there was a BOTM sometime in that time frame that had "Hidden Rivets". I don't remember which model it was.

Strange as it seems, on one my 503s with regular birch laminate inlays and pins, both handles have loosened up and easily move. I'm guessing if you select pins Buck won't glue and pin. But without pins, their only option is to glue. Also, the rocker rivet is there but hidden on most handles except the earliest versions where they were exposed.

I only have a single Buck without any rivets; it is a 501 with buffalo horn covers out of the custom shop and the covers are still nice and tight. It is a few years old and has seen a fair amount of pocket time.
I really like the 501 pattern and you have a very nice one there!

Glad I'm not seeing horror stories of non riveted covers. I'm planning on ordering some custom jobbers from the Custom Shop including a 501 or two!
