Buck not stamping some tangs.?

I recently oredered a Buck 112 in 5160 from Copper&Clad. I couldn't believe what i saw once i received the knife. No tang stamp, just an etched anvil and Buck script. I contacted CandC and was told that the factory is having problems with tangs breaking during the stamping process with 5160. The new Flat grind classics(102,105,119 etc) in 420HC are also etched and not stamped so Im having problems believing this explanation.
Can any Buck enthusiasts shed light on this. Tang stamps are important and am puzzled by the factory inconsistenties.
