Tuff, the 181FX Odyssey I and 182FXCF Odyssey II have the same blade so, if you are just looking for function and usability, the Odyssey I is, by far, the better deal. A real bargain at MSRP ($51.00) and usually discounted.
The 186FL is the plain blade version and uses 420HC. At only $6.00 difference the 181FX is the way to go, unless you just HAVE to have a plain blade. You can't get plain blades in ATS34...yet. (Be patient, my friends)
The 182CF is a really classy knife and the first carbon fiber handles that I truly appreciate. At under $100.00 it is also a bargain when you compare prices of other quality knives with comparable steel and carbon fiber handles. The ATS34 that Buck uses is heat treated properly and it takes and holds an awsome edge.
Bottom line? If you want a down & dirty user, go for the 181FX. If you want style and class, with the same blade, get the 182FXCF. If you can find the G10 182FX you might find you like the feel of it but it goes for the same price as the carbon fiber. I have a few of the G10 models in stock and I really like them. Too bad they were discontinued. Marketing decision.
