Iam thinkin about gettin 1 coz i can get 1 cheep so i want 2 know what u guys think of it???

I have two, don't know how I got them, but I really don't like them. I think the design looks cool, it holds an edge decent, although if I rememeber right the steel in mine is ats34, and it seemed very soft. I just didn't like the way the knife carried in my pocket or on waistband, and it didn't open right, or feel right in my hand. I would suggest handling one before you buy one. I tried to get rid of mine about a year ago on the for sale forum, but not one person was interested.

It's good for the price but I always ended up giving mine away. Why don't you save up $10 or so and get a CRKT M16-03?

I liked the look of the knife but never carried it because it rode too high in the pocket (the clip was too low). Ended up trading it awaya couple of months back.

Gotta agree with Zen, looks wicked, but rides to high in the pocket for me, now it just sits in the box with my other unfavorites.:(

Gave mine away. Buy a Vapor at Walmart (19 bucks) or as SS said, but an M16.

First off, let me say that my Buck Odyssey is 420HC, Zytel handle.

The clip sits very low and a lot of knife sticks out.

The liner is very thin.

I do like the design. Very pointy, sharpens extremely easy.
The choil on the tang keeps the fingers safe while allowing you to choke up for delicate work. The handle fits my hand perfect. Overall, I really like it. That tip down hole will Spydie drop open like a flash!

Let me clarify that this knife would not be my top choice, in fact, I was going to give it away too. I actually got it free when I bought a sharpening set anyway. I traded my EDC, and while I was waiting to replace it, I had to carry the Odyssey. I ended up actually liking it.
Keep in mind, as soon as I was able to get a Calypso Jr. in micarta I stopped carrying it.

In closing: If it is free or all you have, it is not a bad knife. If you have access to them, go with a Kershaw Vapor, Gerber ?, or CRKT.

With Wal-Mart carrying such a decent selection, you should have no problems.

The Odyssey is great. I have three: two 182's (ats34, carbon-fiber scales) and one 181 (ats34, plastic scales.) Just about everything on the knife works very well for me, which is why I bought three of them, all new from the store. Well priced, too.
One change I made to my Odysseys was the tip. The tip of the Odyssey, as it comes from Buck, is quite narrow and pointy. I re-shaped the tips on two of my Odysseys to make them a little wider and less pointy. This re-shaping takes 1/8" to 3/16" off the tip.
Other than that, the Odyssey is a very well-designed and well-made knife, and certainly worth getting. I often carry one as my EDC. The carbon-fiber scales on the discontinued 182 are particularly nice.

As to the comments of others:
Thin liners. Yes, the liners are thin, but not too thin, so the Odyssey is not my first choice for stabbing through car doors. Otherwise, the liners are plenty strong for general knife use. The knife locks up well, is strong enough, and importantly, it locks up reliably, passing the spine-whack test and such. Also, the Odyssey has a good, reliable ball-bearing detent to keep the blade in it's closed position, a better detent than a lot of other knives.
The clip: Yeah, the clip is low, and IWB the knife sticks out a little too much. Not a big problem for me.
The steel: Somebody said the ats34 was soft. Not so on mine.

So buy one.

Provided that you like the design, the Odyssey is a lot of knife for the money. I bought one, although I did NOT like the design, purely because I was impressed with how well the liner lock worked (I'm not normally a liner lock kind of guy). Well, I wound up giving the knife away. I remained impressed with the quality of the liner lock, but could not overcome my dislike of the design. Too pointy, too "futuristic" looking. I never carried it, so I gave it to someone who would enjoy it. However, if the design appeals to you, by all means buy one. It's a great value.

I own several. The one that gets the most use is the plain edged model. My paricular praise for it is it sits well in my pocket due to the curved back.(i sit all day).Good companion to a belt knife.
