What in the world are they thinking?? To me, there's nothing special enough to command that price point???

I think a lot of it is driven by the short run. I like the knife, particularly with the red micarta handle.

pricey for me but for a collector of kalingas. limited edition etc. they may see it as priced right.

heck of a nice knife but I prefer the akonua over the kalinga myself.

Growing up I was always fascinated with Cowboys, not Sinbad (although I did become a sailor). IMO, if you like the 118, you kinda have to like the Akonua. It a 118 on steroids.

Down to 45 left. . Cool old school Buck.

The BOTM definitely has a fan club. I suppose 30 plus years from now this BOTM series will have a more collectabilty feel. In the year 2049 and a Kalinga goes for 700.00 or more....

How many wish they would of bought a first year Buck 110 for under 15 dollars but now sells for 1000.00

I wonder why Buck did not mirror polish the blade? It would have made it more collectible to me and added a little value since it's 420..Even for a user I like a mirror polished.

If it was burgundy micarta I’d be interested but not the maroon they are showing. Buck’s burgundy micarta and every knife they used it on is a thing of beauty! Check out a 124 or a 106, Akonua or Kalinga. Gorgeous!

I don't mind the steel as much as the handle material. I would have thought for that kind of money they'd come up with something more exotic...Even the New Ebony would have done it for me....

Perhaps I’ll change my mind if someone here posts some actual photos of one. That photo or rendering Buck has on their website doesn’t look like the micarta is polished. As far as the color I’ve used burgundy and maroon interchangeably over the years so once again a real photo would make all the difference.

I would agree if they were marked somehow as BOTM with the date or code. Even if they just numbered them this one would be #14. The collectors would be able to tell exactly what it was.
