My old man carried Bucks pretty much exclusively when I was a kid, so I did the same when I was young. Then I moved to a lot of other, newer companies that were making things that fit my wants a bit better. I'm honestly very pleased to see Buck sort of quietly move back onto my radar with some very handsome and functional offerings like this one.

Me and another member where talking. He pointed out what was the reason for the plastic border around the Ironwood, with which I agree. It cheapens the look of the knife.... IMO....

I'm a Vantage nut and jumped on the LE that SK just did and like it. However, I'm just having an issue with the plastic border/tray on this one. If that wasn't there I would be ALL over it. Given that, and the price I think it is a pass for me. Not enough gain over the standard rosewood handle one for me.

I do like the looks and the steel but is it worth 30% more than a standard model with S30V? Perhaps but I ended up passing on the BCCI offering and I think I like it better so I'll probably pass on this one too.

I didn't get a chance to order one at work and looks like I missed out. If anyone wants to part with theirs please pm me. I really want one, the scales look so good

I like the border just because I like the black offset to the wood. Price puts me off and also am anxiously awaiting bcci damascus.

That is a great looking knife in a great steel. I am not a liner lock fan, at all. I will pass on this one.

I'm with you on the liner lock, sort of. I have had some in my hand that I wouldn't give you 2 bit's for, then I have held, now own, that lock up tight and the lock has plenty of spring to where it sits to the far side of center.

I'm still leery of them though....

This one was very tempting! Glad the decision to pass was made easy by a quick sell out or one would probably be coming my way.

Liner locks are the weakest knife lock. I have seen them fail many times. Another issue is that there is only a detent to keep them closed and they have come open on me in my pocket and my wife in her purse. She will not have one, at all, from any maker. Once that detent is overcome the blade is free swinging.

Well so far every single BOTM has sold out and been well received...I'm waiting for the 112 BOTM and really hope it I get my order in before it sells out. I was just thinking this program might really last for many years and become a legacy for collectors who love Buck. Can ya'll see this first year of the program knives become even more collectable in 5 or even 10 years from now? I'm guessing if the Buck of the month proves to be successful and long lasting the Blue 808 Talon will be the key Buck of the series. There was a lot of discussion about the high issue price and even if the 808 was a suitable model for the BOTM..I can see more than a few bidding wars for one of the 75 made as collectors try to complete the first year knives..

I know many think this and have experienced this but it isnt exactly true. if done properly then liner lock isnt the weakest lock....problem is most makers dont do it exactly right. so folks all have experienced this feeling it's a weak lock

....great article written by Bernard Levine back in 97 on Michael Walker and his liner lock....history of it and testing that was done etc.......you might be surprised what Bernard had to say in.his article and everyone here know this man knows his cutlery.....
