Hi dudes,

I'm thinking of buying the larger version of the Omni Hunter - 12pt.
How do you like it for general purpose outdoors knife and a fishing knife ?
It's full tang - how much stress can it take, since this one is 420HC at 60 HRC ?
I like the shape of the blade and the handle, only the choil bothers me.
So what do you think - should I get it :)

When it comes to Buck knives theres never any doubt BUY IT!! ;)

The blade is a tad wide, what type of fishing do you need it for? It will be a bummer for walleyes :D
For outdoors use it should be great! I dont think you have to worry about strength of the knife, but thats with normal "knife" use, its not an axe ;)

420HC is great and will take a razor sharp edge. The handle is comfy!

Let us know how you like it once you pick it up!

They are nice heavy duty knives, but the handles feel a little thin for my big hands, I have the two folders 12pt and 10pt. also have both of the fix blades. The blade are thick don't know if you could fillet a fish with it.

Well I think it should be able to clean a carp :)
I like that wide blade.
Well,I'm going to buy it :D I have two other Buck knives - a 110 and a 119 and love them. The Omni Hunter hhas caught my eye and fits perfectly in my school boy budget :)
Thanks for the oppinions,guys

Have you used it for food preparation and wood work ?I love the camo version, but here's only the black handled one, which is also pretty :)

CLEAN A CARP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It should work well for carp, but why would you subject a Buck knife to that? (LOL)

Fishing for Carp is very popular in Europe Post.
I think they should import some Largemouth Bass but that would be like putting a Snakehead in your favorite fishing lake here...:(

Zom,

I'd recommend you consider a Buck 121 if you want a good knife for working on big fish. They are discontinued now but I think its a must have Buck knife. It was the first Buck my father gave me about 35 years ago...and I still have it and its sharp as a whistle.

One other thing, You have a 119 which is a burly knife that'll do the big chopping work in the field so there is some overlap with the Omni

We fish and bowfish for carp here too, I just dont clean them.

I think pound for pound they fight better than largemouth ;) :o

The omni will work great for cleanin' some giant carp!

Hey Z- Post some pics when you get some please! All the pics in this forum and their aint one knife/carp pic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
