I want one of these to use as the knife in my survival pack, I am leaning towards the Becker. Anyone have any input on which is better?

I think I've seen the Packlite you're talking about, http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail_ie6.html?s=BU135SSS
I don't own either, but Becker and Buck both make excellent knives, both are US made, one is stainless, one is not.
I'd base it on how much of a hunting knife you need over an EDC, and handle length. Small fixed blades with small handles can sometimes be too short to be used hard, comfortably.
I like small fixed blades, but even the Becker Eskabar has a short handle that kind of hurts my hand.

Okay, that's a bigger knife than the Remora. I have been looking at that one at Wal-Mart. I prefer bigger handles, unless I need to hide the knife, even then a full size handle is preferred.
Both could work well for you, but for "survival" you may need to use it hard. Longer handles offer more power, in my experience.

I just got the Remora today. I love the knife itself but the sheath is horrible. For pocket carry, there's easy way to draw the knife without pulling it entirely out of the pocket and grabbing the sheath in one hand and the knife in the other. If you intend neck carry though, the sheath is all right.

I have both knives. I got the remora w/BK 7 knife and the paklite for Christmas. IMO, I would like the size of the paklite better than the remora.

both the becker remora and buck paklite are stainless.

the remora is 440A, the pakilte is 420HC (BOS-HT).

personally, out of those two choices, i would probably go with the buck.

As an "emergency" knife either will do. I have the Remora. Nice little knife. VERY small though. Takes a great edge, but the steel being what it is, doesn't hold it too long.

Just a suggestion, but spend an extra $20 and get either the Eskabar or Izula. You'll be glad you did. I have both. They are great small knives. JMHO.

I didn't realize how small the remora was untilI just watched a video on it. Now I am thinkinbg of maybe a BK14 or BK11.

Good choices. Also check out the Swamprat Warden. Same kinda' knife, just a little more. ($60) And it's a ... "Swamprat" (lol)

Good luck. Can't really go wrong with any of them. Myself, I like the extended handle on the Izula II and the bigger blade on the BK 14 (Eskabar)

All good little things to have in a pinch though.
