I stopped by AG today and grabbed the small version, the one large they had in stock was very rough opening so I passed on it til they get a new shipment in.

Have to add some grip to the flipper, but otherwise very nice, I have looked at these for some time but plain black didn't call out to me.

Are these on any ones wish list?

I've got the Vantage Pro - and its a great value and a great slicer.

They're great, but I've noticed that the Vantage series is a little rough in the QC department. Some are flawless and some have off-center blades and sticky flippers (what a strange sounding sentence!) :)

I can deal with a rough edge or corner, easy fix...

But a rough, gritty action, no go

I have all of them. Both sizes and all steel/handle types. I like the paperstone, but I found the other three handles better to me. I have over 20 all total of these, and I have not found one QC issue in the group. I am not as picky as some, but I think they are all great and I vote with my dollars spent!....

Most of them are just fine. I work in a seasonal knife store and sell literally hundreds of these things during the course of the summer season, and I've seen what I consider to be an above average (for Buck) with off-center blades, and a good number with stiff pivots that needed breaking in. It's no big deal--it doesn't affect their ability to be used--but it just isn't normal for Buck's usual mega-high standard. I haven't seen one that had to be sent back yet, though I've had to file the liner bar on a few due to the lock not engaging properly. :)
