Well, I just bought one of these for around $20 at the local Walmart. The thing is great. I've got the blades sharpened real nice, and the fit and finish are excellent.

I do have a question though... What the hell is the blade steel? I don't expect it to be anything great, but just curious. Thanks.

The cadet is a great knife for the money. I have a normal blue handled version that I've carried on and off for about the last year and half. I still need to pick up one of the poly-pearl handled models though. Very nice indeed.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Not really what I would call a good blade steel, but if i strope the blade twice a week it should hold up. Thanks again.

Kevin ,It's Bucks heattreat that makes the steel perform. Their system was set up and is monitored by Paul Bos. Use with confidence!
