Hello,

How does the Buck/Strider police knife stack up against a real Strider folder in terms of strength?

Are they close?

Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in response, I am back in the Marines and have little time for the forums lately.

The "full up" Strider Knives are made of higher end materials and they are framelocks. Both of these factors greatly increase the strength and durability of the Strider over the SBT. The SBT is very strong though and for the money it would be hard to find a better quality knife.

The new 889 (military version) is good to go as well.

I recently acquired two Buck Strider Tarani SBT knives in G10 and they are similar in a general sense to my Strider SnG. Similar in a general sense, and not as perfect as my SnG, but the SnG is so amazing, that there is lots of room below it.

The Buck Strider Tarani is a production model, its not made with the same materials or craftsmanship as a true Strider, however, it is rock solid, finely designed and crafted, and I am profoundly pleased with it. I have two, and both reflect the same high quality.

In fact, I am very impressed with every Buck Strider model I own.

I would be very surprised if you were not very pleased with it.

Whats not to like about G10 slabs, steel liners, bronze phospor washers, and BOS treated ATS34 steel? These knives are dang like fixed blades when locked open. Virtual pry bars with an edge.

The ergonomic design makes this medium-large folder feel very comfortable in the hand. The lockup is like a tank. The liner lock drops right in where it belongs. The blade is perfectly centered.

This is a home run.

The 889 s are similar to the SBT , but have Black Blades, no PDT or Serrations, Coyote Brown Handle, or Olive Drab or Black.

They are very nice.

MSRP $80.00

Sorry for being off-topic....

I don't know you at all, Josh, except for all of your great help on this forum, however, despite not knowing you, I want to thank you for your service on America's front lines. America wouldn't be here without Americans fighting for her.

I'll try to stay on top of the forum while I can.
