Hi guys!
I was wondering if you had any experince with a Buck Portable Diamond Sharpening System
Model 1336

I know that most of you will recommend a DMT or a EZE-LAP ... but I am trying to save some p&p ... and buy all from a single shop ... the price is 20 $ ....
I need something portable for a Bushman and a TAK in D2.
What do you think?
Cheers!

I've never especially cared for diamond pads, especially on the go. I much prefer ceramic rods, but you have to keep them clean. If you know how to use the diamond pads, and you have something to strop the blades with afterwards, go for it. They do tend to work quickly and they do the job if you keep the angles right.

Look at the DMT folders before you buy ... they are vastly superior to any of the portable diamond sharpeners I've looked at or used. The Buck looks like the Smith's repackaged ... the Smiths I've had haven't lasted very long.

I prefer a crock stick or Lansky system - because I haven't taken the time to learn to hold the blade at exactly XX degrees on either side for YY strokes to sharpen it. Those who have demonstrate a lot more skill and patience than I want to give it - I can crock stick an EDC on the dresser top in the morning and move on.

Sundays I can do a Lansky sharpening watching a game and know I won't screw it up.
