I have carried a Buck Prince (#503) as a pocket knife for the last few years until recently when I either lost it or misplaced it. I liked this knife because of it's small size and light weight so I decided to buy another one to replace it. My old Prince had a "brushed look" stainless blade, on the package of the one I bought today it says "EDGE 2000 BLADE" and the blade has an almost polished look to it, the package says "satin". Is this a newer version of the Prince? is the blade stainless steel? Thank you,

You too? I've carried a 503 as the basic pocket knife for quite a while.

Not to worry, Edge 2000 is new configuration of the edge geometry, which appears to give a sharper, more maintainable edge. The Blade is Bucks's standard 420HC Steel, which is easy to sharpen, and holds the edge as well as can be expected from a lower-end steel.

The shinier steel may just be because the knife is newer, or it may have been polished a bit more in production, that's all.
