Anyone got a Protege and if so would you care to discuss the model and or post photos? Considering picking one up (large model with a partially serrated blade) and was looking to find out more about it. TIA

I like mine. Its lightweight and the handles are grippy. The only thing I didn't care for is the handles are wide. It carries nicely in a sheath. I also keep one in a tackle box. Its pretty affordable if it ever goes overboard. :D I will try to find some pics for you. ;)

Thank you. Did they normally come with a sheath? Also I see them listed as "red" or "blue" with a corresponding Buck logo. The only difference I can see between the two "colors" is that the red is a PE blade and blue is combo edge. Is that correct?

I've had this one (450) for several years, great knife, and I'll admit I've borderline abused this one with some of the stuff I've used it for, and it just keeps going.

Came with a nylon sheath.

"Somewhere" in the house, I have another one still in the factory blister pack.

Mine all came with a sheath, but I am unsure of the color combination, as you can see from the pic. ;)
I believe the one out in my tackle box is all black too....

Here's my one and only (Thanks again Jim!). No pocket clip on it but they came with a nice sheath.

I see in the '98 catalog it was offered also as a "Flick it" with a different design blade and a blue "shield" in the handle instead of the red in the other version.

Thanks for the pics. So the red comes in both PE and PS profiles. The blue one I looked at had the thumbstud which the red ones seem not to have. The blue must be what I'm seeing referred to as the "Flick-It" model. I'm finding these for sale at some online vendors but not the Buck website. Was it recently discontinued?
