anyone see what didnt get done here on one of them?

mind ya im not going to send it back.....it doesn't matter from a functional standpoint, but there is way too much slippage going on at Buck lately....most i dont post about or point out as they are minor and superficial...likewise with this one but how this one skipped an entire process?...sure hope heat treat wasn't skipped too😁....ill find out......

I kinda like the one missed step side better wish both were that way.....ironically.....

First thing I noticed was the uneven grind on the tanto of the tan one. Then went back and re-read your post and figured it had to be something bigger. I'm guessing the relief on the spine? Don't know how I missed that the first time around!
not the uneven grind. that doesn't phase me at all....yep the cutout on the spine...not there on one side on the tan one.

at first I figured it was milled across the whole way....but nope its extra thick across the spine...it just didn't get done.

it also has Fixall Fixall favorite😁the chisel ground tip.....

The tan one, the grind looks really uneven. In the picture it also looks like the tip is slightly rounded ?

As for the missed production step - to me that is a rare knife. Can't be many like that out in the wild. And, I like the knife much better without the cut out. The cutouts are why I never purchased the tanto version.

Well.... being a long time Smith & Wesson devotee, I was wondering whether or not the same kind of quality control issues
that started to crop up at S&W would find their way over to Buck with the installment of Lane Tobiassen as President.

Coincidental timing?? I dunno, but what's now being observed at Buck has an all too familiar feel to those of us that experienced the QA decline at S&W while Tobiassen was there....

It’s like watching a remake of the same tv show.

S&W now uses the customer as final QC check. Please don’t let that happen to Buck.

Actually, they are doing me and my bank account a favor.
Thanks! :)

Its looks like when we pulled out the old stock of blades, this one got by. If you want to trade it out, let me know and I'll see if I can rettle one up.

It's a rare knife / interesting story.

"Here goes Grampa again, talking about when he got a Buck knife missing something or other" (grand kids roll their eyes, grumble).
