hi again to all members, :D

so, ive bought a little ranger 112, but i m not sure if its a knock off or the real thing..
it has buck, 112, usa, stamped on the blade, but it has no nail notch
from what ive seen on the net, all 112 rangers have the nail notch
and another thing, it has no sheath, and i know that its supposed to come with a sheat
anyway, if anybody knows something about this , please enlight me
thanks

Older 112's don't have the nail nick. Are there any dots to either side of the "112"?

older 112s didnt have a nail nick..post in buck (manufacturers section)with pic for date made and more..oops too slow

so i guess its a real buck :D
but the fact that didnt had a sheath is normal for that period ?

Are those 3 brass handle rivets 1/8th inch in diameter?

If so that appears to be a 1974-79 5th version 4th variation, putting it closer to 1979.

Nice one, and yes from the factory it came with a sheath and they were separated at some point.

Email sent to you on the sheath.

the brass rivets appear to have about 3mm +
here are some comparision picks to some knives ihad close :D

perhaps just some engraving...

Here's another annomaly - I have a #112 that I bought for my dad for Christmas in 1973! It has black micarta scales and not the cocobola of the later versions. I still have the box too! Dad saved everything! I, too really like the #112 for an all round field knife.
Revvie!

That's perfectly normal, early 112's had black micarta scales for the first year or two, then they switched to Sequa wood for a short time, then Macassar Ebony.

That's the ticket: Sequa wood, that's what's on that oneten in that other thread. I recently got a 112 with sequa off the auction site and they are a match. I was going to get it re-scaled with amboyna but won't now. both my 112's came sans sheaths and find them hard to find. I do have 10 new 110 sheaths so am set there. I just need to find ten 110's without sheaths. Heheheheh..... BJ
